Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2019-0277-R6, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, the California Department of Water Resources. The Project is limited to the clearing the project site of debris, surface roughening, access road construction, and maintenance activities. Surface roughening of dry portions of the approximately 160-acre parcel is proposed for dust suppression purposes as part of Phase I of the Salton Sea Management Program. Surface roughening includes installation of oriented roughness (furrows) with a bull plow (ditch plow) with inter-row random roughness installed with a switch plow. Switch plow passes are aligned parallel to the oriented roughness. Inter-row spacing of oriented roughness may vary to optimize effective dust suppression. An approximately 0.5-mile long, 13.1-foot wide road will be constructed for access with a surface of chipped organic matter. Maintenance includes road repairs and repeating surface roughening as needed for the duration of this Agreement term.
