- Document Description
- The purpose of the proposed project is to comply with the federal and state drinking water standard and begin removing naturally occurring arsenic from the potable water supply. As of January 23, 2006, all water suppliers were held to a higher standard for arsenic, which was lowered from 50 ppb (parts per billion) to 10 ppb. While this is the federal max contaminant level, the California State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, is administering the regulatory process. Although the district has applied for and received regulatory extensions regarding compliance, the DDW has now issued an order to the district requiring compliance with the new arsenic MCL.
