Document Description
The project would remove the surface parking lot and construct a new town square to be the focal point of the downtown area. The square will include two major elements: a grove of trees with custom benches and room for play on the Lorton Avenue side, and a terrace with seating steps in front of the Historic Post Office with an open space that can accommodate events, including the Farmers' Market, on the Park Road side. The Town Square will also have a water feature, public art, a small stage, public restrooms, and a combined trash enclosure for the buildings along Burlingame Avenue. Pedestrian access to the town square would be provided along Lorton Avenue and Park Road. No parking would be provided on-site.
