- A scientific study to acquire a better understanding of the parameters of the Lower Tuscan Aquifer, including its source and recharge characteristics. The project improves upon data that is appropriate for protecting the Lower Tuscan Aquifer groundwater resource. This is a 3 yr monitoring, data gathering and analysis project that is managed by the Butte County Water and Resource Conservation. The project includes the installation of data collection and monitoring equipment including soil infiltrometers, stream gauges, piezometer wells, seepage meters and groundwater monitoring wells. The project will also monitor existing irrigation practices to evaluate aquifer recovery and recharge.
