The City of Shasta Lake has prepared a draft housing element to provide for housing policy that guides development and insures that affordable housing is a priority for the City. The planning period for the element is 2009-2014. The element was prepared to meet the State legislative changes that have occurred since the last update which include provision for emergency, transitional and supportive housing. The element also includes an inventory of existing housing and lots as well as identifies social and financial barriers to housing. It outlines a list of over 30 programs to both meet the requirements of the state and the need for decent affordable housing.
