Document Description
The project consists of an application submitted Los Angeles County Recycling Market Development Zone to expand its current designated boundaries by including eight additional jurisdictions. The Los Angeles County Zone is currently comprised of eleven jurisdictions, including the cities of Burbank, Carson, Commerce, Compton, El Monte, Glendale, Inglewood, Palmdale, South Gate, Torrance and Vernon. The Administrator for the Los Angeles County Zone submitted an application in February 2013 requesting that the boundaries of the Los Angeles County Zone be expanded to include the cities of Azusa, Baldwin Park, Covina, Culver City, Huntington Park, Monrovia, Santa Fe Springs and Whittier. The expansion is sought to increase the diversion of materials from area and regional landfills and to provide technical and financial support to additional business that use materials from the waste stream to manufacture their products.
