Colton Soil Safe Land Improvement Project
Document Type
NOP - Notice of Preparation
Present Land Use
Vacant land and undocumented, abandoned landfill/Open Space/Open Space
Document Description
The project proposed by Soil Safe of California, Inc. (Soil Safe) involves the placement of inert engineered fill within the project site to elevate the property out of the 100 yr floodplain, cover an existing abandoned dump (Guyaux landfill) onsite, and control stormwater running into and off of the property. These actions will be performed after the landowner has voluntarily removed hazardous wastes, deposited years ago by other parties, from the surface of the old landfill. As a result of the proposed project, several potential Programmatic Elements may occur in the future by other parties such as the Maturin Group and/or the City of Colton. These Elements involve the potential construction of the Fogg Street extension and future land use changes which are described in the following section. The proposed project is located in the southern portion of the City of Colton, and north of the City of Grand Terrace. The project site is located southwest of the intersection of the San Bernardino (I-10) and East M Street, west of the Riverside (I-215) freeway interchange and south of East Congress Street.
