Document Description
SR 73 possesses a system of 39 storm water detention basins that capture and filter runoff from the highway prior to discharging it to natural drainage areas. Water quality monitoring was performed in the basins during the rainy seasons of 2004/2005. An excessive amount of sediment was observed in some of the basins. The sediment load is believed to originate from outside the footprint of the basins, but from within the watershed. The sediment load may comprise the filtering capability of the basins. The intent of this project is to prevent erosion from entering into 9 of the basins by implementing various erosion control measures (e.g. slope stabilization, slope redesign).
