Document Description
The Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) proposes a design project to connect the Sunbird Mobile Home Park water system to CVWD's Thermal Public Water System (3310068) in the community of Thermal, Riverside County. This water system is about 45 years old and consists of: one 400-foot-deep, 6-inch-diameter, groundwater well; one 3,000-gallon pressurized storage tank; one 5,000-gallon storage tank; six 10,000-gallon storage tanks and PVC distribution piping. Currently, the groundwater quality exceeds the maximum contaminant level for arsenic and treatment is not provided. California Department of Public Health has issued a compliance order for the Sunbird Mobile Home Park water system. This design project includes approximately 1,200 feet of a future 12-inch ductile iron pipeline in Echol Road that will connect to an existing CVWD 30-inch transmission main in Harrison Street; the need for an easement will be determined in this design project. In addition to the 12-inch pipeline, the design plans and specifications will include three 2-inch water meters with detector check valves and one six-inch fire hydrant assembly. This project is for design only and does not include any new facilities, modifications, or replacements to the existing wells and does not include any changes to existing storage tanks. This design project only includes the preparation of plans and specifications for a potential connection to the Thermal Public Water System described in the attached California Department of Public Health safe drinking water state revolving fund worksheet.
