Document Description
The Applicant proposes to alter the streambed to remove up to 0.75 acres of emergent vegetation (tules and cattails) to provide for more open water habitat on this 3.3-acre lake. The Applicant proposes to control tules and cattails with approved aquatic herbicides and remove dead plant material with hand tools and hand-operated power tools. Applicant shall cut no more than 0.75 acres of vegetation per year. Applicant shall consult with the Department to Identify additional long-term maintenance measures at the lake, including dredging accumulated sediments to reduce shallow water habitats. West Bank-Applicant shall maintain a minimum 2-foot wide patch of cattails along the entire length of the west bank. Applicant may remove a patch of cattails up to 15 feet wide along the west bank of the lake. Southeast Bank-Applicant may remove a patch of mixed cattails and tules up to 10 feet wide along the southeast bank of the lake. Applicant shall clear only the area of tules necessary to pass storm flows from the southeast tributary to the lake. Applicant agrees to avoid all work in the southeast tributary of the lake and the southern margin of the lake. This area shall be allowed to remain as an emergent marsh as mitigation for the loss of habitat in other portions of the lake.
