Document Description
The proposed project consists of construction and operation of a partially submerged tidal barrier (sill) adjacent to the existing UPRR bridge at the mouth of Parsons Slough, an arm of Elkhorn Slough. The sill is intended to reduce erosion and preserve wetland and fisheries habitats. The majority of the sill would be submerged, although portions of the abutments and weir would extend above the water line. Materials and equipment staging would be at Kirby Park, about 2 miles upstream from the proposed sill site. The proposed project would also include establishement of artificial reefs to support populations of Olympia oysters in the northeastern portions of the Parsons Slough Complex.
