Document Description
To achieve tertiary treatment, the project proposes to modify two of the the existing treatment ponds to accommodate an extended aeration activated sludge process and adds microfiltration and ultraviolet disinfection to provide compliance with title 22 requirements. Submerged microfiltration units will be used for both solids separation and Title 22 filtration. Treated effluent will either be discharged to the New River under NPDES requirements or would be sent to reuse under new regional Water Quality Control Board Waste Discharge Requirements. Two of the other existing treatment ponds will be converted to in-ground earthen basins and lined with a synthetic flexible membrane and a floating cover for storage of up to 300,000 gallons of Title 22 recycled water. The Title 22 recycled water will be pumped via a dedicated pump station to a re-use conveyance system by others. On-site pump stations will convey process flows and product water. Piping between the various treatment processes will be installed belowground. A new backup generator will be installed as part of the project, as necessary to comply with title 22 reliability and redundancy requirements, and generators may be required temporarily during project construction.
