Document Description
Initial project construction was completed in Oct. 2011, and involved repowering the existing wind farm by decommissioning and reclaiming 438 existing wind turbine generators (WTG) and 286 wind WTG foundations and constructing 34 new WTGs and associated infrastructure. Project activities resulted in increased impacts than authorized by the issued ITP. Additional compensatory mitigation is needed to offset the biological effects of the expanded Project footprint. The amended Project includes additional impacts to 195.82 acres of CA tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense) and San Joaquin kit fox (Vulpes macrotis mutica) (Covered Species) habitat, including 14.2 acres of the Project's temporary impacts to Covered Species habitat which did not achieve the vegetation success criteria as described in the Vegetation Restoration Plan, and 4.9 acres of roads that will no longer be considered for a decommissioning credit. The amended Project is expected to result in incidental take of CA tiger salamander and San Joaquin kit fox, which are both designated as threatened species under CESA. The ITP issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of project implementation.
