Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) owns and operates a heated asphalt truck tanker to maintain the roadways and parking lots at the five pumping plants of the Colorado River Aqueduct. The truck is used on an as needed basis to spread emulsified asphalt for use as a tack coat when making repairs to existing asphalt surfaces, and when roads are being capped with another layer of asphalt.
