Document Description
The Department of Toxic Substances Control has issued an Emergency Permit to Beale AFB to treat hazardous waste by open detonation. The items to be treated are a hand riot control grenade and a ground signal. During routine inspections it was determined that the items are no longer serviceable due to age or inspection requirements. Beale AFB Explosive Ordinance Disposal personnel have determined that, due to their condition and age, the items are considered unsafe for shipment.
The emergency permit is effective from December 28, 2009 through March 15, 2010.

The proposed detonation will be performed in a manner that minimizes potential environmental effects ofr impacts by implementing the following controls;
Treatment will be performed on the Beale AFB Explosive Ordinance Disposal Range. The range is a secure, fenced-off facility located and designed for this use.
