Document Description
The proposed Alamo Creek Detention Basin is located a 79-acre, city owned site, adjacent to and north of Alamo Creek. The purpose of the project is to increase the detention capacity along the Alamo creek system that conveys storm water runoff through the City of Vacaville and thereby reduce the incidents of future flooding and damage to established neighborhoods and urban infrastructure during peak storm flows. The basin will be excavated to a depth of 17 feet and will be surrounded on the north, east and south sides by a berm that is 25 feet in elevation above natural grade at the highest point. The project includes and 300 foot wide intake weir that will convey peak storm flow from the creek into the basin. Two 42 inch pipes will meter flow from the basin back to Alamo Creek. The design capacity of the Alamo Basin is approximately 600 cubic feet; the design allows for duration of 24 to 72 hours for storm water detention. The property is currently open space primarily occupied by an abandoned orchard. Prior to approving the Project, the City Council certified the Final EIR prepared for the Alamo Creek and Ulatis Creek Detention Basins.
