Document Description
This project involves the Department of Toxic Substances Control's (DTSC's) approval of a Removal Action Workplan (RAW). The RAW includes the following engineering controls over impacted soils:
1) Installation of a passive venting methane mitifation system beneath new onsite building; and
2) Implementation of an operation and maintenance (O&M) plan including methane monitoring.

Reasons for Exemption
1.The site is not on the Hazardous Waste and Substances Sites List pursuant to Government Code section 65962.5
2. The site has been previously graded to a depth of at least four feet below ground surface. The proposed system will be installed following additional construction grading by the school district. The system will be installed to a depth of two to four feet within the same foot print as the construction grading. Therefore, the RAW activities will not affect native or undisturbed areas that might support biological resources or contain cultural resources. If any addition grading outside of this area were to occur, it would be done by the school district contractors under the mitigation measures contained in the school construction Negative Declaration.
