Document Description
This project is part of a larger rehabilitation program on the trolley system to provide Low Floor Light Rail Vehicle (LFLRV) access on the Blue Line between Old Town and San Ysidro Transit Centers, and the Orange Line between 12th and Imperial Avenue Transit Center and Santee. The system of overhead wires used to transmit electrical energy to the trolley cars will be replaced enabling network communication along the Blue Line to remotely monitor and control railroad signaling and various other systems. Fiber optics will be bundled together and strung from existing poles along the trolley right-of-way. Some trenching may be required to install the fiber optics underground where clearance issues prohibit hanging the wires. Over bridge structures, fiber optics may be installed within the track ballast.
