Document Description
These improvements are part of a larger rehabilitation program on the trolley system to provide Low Floor Light Rail Vehicle (LFLRV) access on the Blue Line between Old Town and San Ysidro Transit Centers, and the Orange Line between 12th & Imperial Avenue Transit Center and Santee. Blue Line track and signal improvements include: repairing grade crossing surfaces at approximately 40 locations with concrete track panels and asphalt roadway surface (160' per track) 90# rail replacement at 5 district locations (4 curves) with 115# rail and replacing switches and mechanical installations enabling vehicles to switch tracks at 5 locations. SANDAG will perform annual maintenance as needed including: replacing interlocking cases and highway grade cases; replacing crossing lights and flashes with LEDs; repairing substation roofs, relays, and equipment cases; resurfacing bus travel ways and parking lots; and replacing the remainder of 90# rail with 115# rail elastic fasteners on existing wood ties.
