Document Description
Dead oyster shells (and perhaps ceramic tiles, as a surrogate for oyster shells) will be placed at the mudflat as a substrate for natural, passive recruitment and growth of new oysters, as a test of the potential to restore oyster beds to Newport Bay. Twenty-five, 2m X 2m replicate plots, with 2m gaps, will receive scattered or bagged oyster shells, and preference for oyster spat settling will be observed.
