Document Description
The Project consists of the excavation of six (6) test pits to determine the amount of suitable spawning gravel that will be generated, as part of the pre-design of a fish habitat enhancement Project. All test pits, which will be up to 3 feet deep and 4 feet wide, will be excavated outside of the active channel above the 100-year flood mark. All excavated material will be returned to the test pits after testing is completed. To allow a small backhoe or excavator to access the excavation area, a temporary low water crossing will be installed across a side channel of the Stanislaus River. The crossing will be removed following the completion of gravel testing, and the streambed and bank will be restored and revegetated.
