Document Description
The project will develop the prime mover for a combined heat and power based on a microturbine that is capable of operating on alternative fuels including synthesis gas of various compositions. The project will build and demonstrate a prototype system, evaluate system performance on a range of clean dry gases, and integrate with a specific gasifier. The University of California Irvine (UCI) will play a critical role in the development of concept for a fuel flexible turbine system. UCI will also develop the combustion concept and implement and evaluate combustion system components. The Energy Commission's cost share to the project is specific to the University of California Irvine's Scope of Work which in general will provide information needed to address the complex being supported by the U.S. Department of Energy.
