Reasons for Exemption
This project fits within the descriptions of Class 1 and 4 Categorical Exemptions to CEQA pertaining to minor alterations to existing public facilities and minor alterations to land. Portions of the project areas will take place upon disturbed sites from previous system construction which reduces the risk of environmental impact. Other areas were carefully inspected by the CAL FIRE Unit Forester and Environmental Coordinator. CAL FIRE has determined that this project is exempt and that no significant environmental impacts will occur. Prior to making this determination, the CAL FIRE Unit completed a limited environmental review to confirm that no unusual conditions or sensitive resources exist at the project site. Documentation of this environmental review is on file at Unit Headquarters in Mariposa and at CAL FIRE Headquarters in Sacramento.
