Document Description
The Applicant intends to alter the streambed by constructing a surface water diversion channel. The earthen channel will need to be reconstructed or repaired after large storm events. In order to construct the diversion channel, a water diversion berm is used to keep the flow towards the center of the channel and out of the excavation area. The diversion channel is then dug in a dry area using an excavator and native materials from the river is utilized to construct a berm approximately 5-7 feet tall and an estimated 10 feet in width. At the end of the diversion channel a pump is placed in the water to provide irrigation to the surrounding agricultural lands. The pump intake valve is surrounded by a quarter-inch mesh screen. In this same area at the terminus of the diversion channel, a plastic pipe (8-inch diameter) is placed within the berm to allow water, when it reaches a certain level, to exit the diversion channel and return to the main channel.
