Document Description
RWD proposes to transfer to AVEK, DRWD, KCWA, and MWD (collectively Buyers) up to 20,682 af of water made available from the Feather River through temporary idling of acreage historically planted to rice within RWD that would have been planted to rive in 2010 in the absence of the transfer. The idled acreage totals less than 20% of the cultivated acreage within RWD. The transfer would be provided at Lake Oroville and would flow through the natural river channels to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, where it would be pumped at the SWP Banks Pumping Plant. The DWR will deliver the transfer water to the Buyer's service areas. The transfer water is intended to alleviate water shortages within the Buyer's service areas due to ongoing dry conditions and would not support new development.
