General Plan Amendment Application No.2009-04-Housing Element Update

This project consists of text changes to the 2003 Stanislaus County General Plan - Housing Element. The changes are not major in scope, but with emphasis on meeting State of California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) guidelines for context of a housing element. The 2009 Housing Element represents a modification to existing policies and implementation programs in the 2003 Housing Element. It proposes to preserve the most successful programs from the last Element to meet the housing needs of Stanislaus County residents through 2014. No specific housing projects are approved as a part of the Housing Element adoption. In fact, the Housing Element, in itself, would not directly result in changes to the physical environment (environment effects). After Housing Element adoption, the County will evaluate specific housing development proposals based on their compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act may be required prior to development of any specific housing units. Compliance with the programs and policies of the Housing Element alone does not ensure project approval.
