Document Description
(a) Amend the Land Use, Open Space and Conservation Element of the Kern County General Plan for Map Code 8.1 to Map Code 7.2 or a more restrictive map code designation; (b) A change in zone classification from A to M-2 PD or a more restrictive zone district; and (c) Exclusion of approximately 15 acres from the boundaries of an Agricultural Preserve. The request is intended to recognize the existing development of the parcel with a diesel truck parking facility, a watermelon processing facility, a water storage tower, and related offices. No new development is being proposed at this time. As proposed, water supply for the development would be provided by the applicant, Mettler County Water District, and sewage disposal for the site would continue to be through private septic tank. Access is proposed via Mettler Frontage Road, which is designated as local alignment by the Circulation Element of the Kern County General Plan.
