Document Description
The project purposes to install traffic signals, with Concrete In Drilled Hole (CIDH) foundations, pedestrian crossings, raised curb medians, ADA curb ramps, and re-striping of the existing highway. Minor work to install microwave interconnects hardwired to nearby controllers, is also planned at the intersections of Magnolia St/Rte 299 and Court St/Rte 299.
An environmental review was conducted to determine if the project would result in an adverse effect upon the environment. The review consisted on ground surveys and database inquiries for sensitive biological and archaeological resources. No special status species, including threatened or endangered species were identified within the project limits. No permits are required from federal or state resource agencies.
No archaeological resources were identified within the project limited during the environmental review. Two stone retaining walls at the northwest and northeast corners of the Magnolia St./Eureka Way intersection are adjacent to the project limits and will be avoided. Therefore, it has been determined that the project will not adversely effect eligible historical resources as the project is currently proposed. If the proposed project changes or if cultural resources are discovered during project activities, work will temporarily cease until the qualified archaeologist assesses the cultural materials and an appropriate course of action can be determined.
Based on these studies, and with the avoidance the minimization measures as noted above, it was determined that the project would not result in a potentially significant adverse effect upon the environment. Additional assessments and studies could be required if the project plans change to include areas that were not previously reviewed.
