Document Description
The project entails the construction of an Ultrablock gravity wall to rebuild and stabilize the failing bank of Cordilleras Creek at 1250 Edgewood Road in Redwood City, San Mateo County. The Ultrablock gravity wall will have a minimal cut into the existing bank and will not require tieback into the bank. At the toe of the bank, logs with rootwads will be incorporated into the wall which will preserve the scour pool at the toe of the wall and will provide a floodplain bench that will be used to plant appropriate vegetation, while providing wildlife refugia adjacent to a retained outside bend pool feature. The wall will be approximately 90 ft long and will vary from six to 18 ft tall and 2.5 to 7 ft wide. An excavator and crane will be used from the top-of-the-bank to place the Ultrablocks into place block by block. CDFW is executing a lake and streambed alteration agreement no. 1600-2014-0300-R3, pursuant to section 1602 fish and game code to the project permittee, Joseph Ravella.
