Document Description
The Project involves safety widening to be executed in two segments. Segment 1 will be confined to the existing pavement, and will consist only of improvements to pavement friction. No mechanized equipment will be operated outside the existing pavement or shoulders. Work is anticipated to take 11 working days to complete. Work within Segment 2 includes shoulder widening and the addition of a left-turn pocket at Lovers Lane. To accommodate pavement widening with minimal impact to aquatic resources, the alignment will be widened primarily to the north. Because widening to the north will require cutting into slopes, tow retaining walls will be constructed in this segment. The Project site is within the range of the California tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense) (Covered Species), which is designated as a threatened species under California Endangered Species Act, and is known to support individuals of the species. Development of the Project site will result in the permanent loss of 2.03 acres of habitat, and temporary loss of 6.19 acres of habitat for Covered Species. Take of the Covered Species as defined by Fish and Game is expected.
