Document Description
The Lei Fuel Reduction Project is part of a strategic fire defense system that is planned along the northern rim of the Stanislaus River. The Calaveras Foothills Fire Safe Council has been working with willing landowners in the area to create a fuel break designed to protect the small communities and housing subdivisions along the Highway 4 corridor. This area has been involved in several large fires in the past including the Darby fire and Old Gulch fire.
