Document Description
Caltrans and the Shasta County RTPA propose to add a 12-foot lane and a 10-foot shoulder in the median in both the southbound and northbound directions on Interstate 5 in Redding. The two bridge structures at Cypress Avenue will be widened approximately 18 feet concurrent with the roadway widening. This section of I-5 from the Bonnyview Road Interchange north to the I-5/SR 44 freeway to freeway interchange has the highest traffic volumes and the highest levels of congestion on Interstate 5 north of Woodland to the Oregon State line. The addition of lanes in each direction will improve operations, add capacity and improve safety by reducing congestion.
