Document Description
The Carlon Meadow and Riparian Restoration Project will remove gabions (metal cages filled with river rock) that line approximately 370 feet of the South Fork of the Tuolumne River. These structures were installed in this part of the Yosemite National Park in 1966 in an effort to keep the river channel stationary. Several of the gabions that line the riverbank no longer contain rocks, and in some places the river is starting to cut into the bank behind the structures.
