Document Description
The project consists of mapping portions of the existing drainage below the dam, excavate and geologically log soil material in a trench (approximately 200'wide x 1000' long x 35' deep) and drill and geologically log four exploration holes through the downstream face of the dam. Sonic testing will be conducted on three holes. The Department of Water Resource (state water project), US Bureau of Reclamation (Central Valley Project) and water users in the respective areas benefit from this project.

Reasons for Exemption
Project involves minor excavation of small test trench in a non environmentally sensitive area. A biological survey of the area was conducted by DWR and no sensitive species or habitat were present in the project area. The trench area will be fenced to prohibit wildlife, the trench ends sloped and it will be backfilled and compacted when the work is complete.
