Document Description
NOTES: Review per Lead
In accordance with State law, the City of Oakland (City) proposes to adopt a General Plan Amendment for the City of Oakland General Plan-Housing Element 2007-2014, as a part of the City's General Plan. This NOP/Initial Study analyzes some of the environmental effects of the implementation of the policies and actions in the proposed Element. A focused EIR which studies potential impacts from Traffic and Transportation, Air Quality, Noise and Green House Gasses is being prepared. The City must accommodate 14,629 new housing units between January 2007 and June 2014 to meet its "fair share" of housing need, known as the "RHNA". The City can accommodate the new housing without rezoning or General Plan amendments through current opportunity sites, and with projects either built, under construction, approved or in pre-development.
