Document Description
The project is the adoption and implementation of an updated General plan for the City of South Lake Tahoe. The updated City of South Lake Tahoe General Plan would replace the existing General Plan. The General Plan Update is based on the foundation of the City's Smart Growth Principles and is intended to be consistent with the intent and general approach of the TRPA Regional Plan Update process. The City of South Lake Tahoe General Plan Update comprises a Land Use Diagram and policy document that contains ten elements. Each of the elements identifies goals and associated policies and action items. State law requires that general plans address seven topics: land use, circulation, housing, conservation, open space, noise, and safety. The General Plan Update covers each of these topics except housing, plus several additional issues, for a total of ten elements. The updated Housing Element was adopted by the City on December 9, 2008, and is not part of this update.
