Document Description
The Merced to Fresno HST project would involve construction and operation of a dedicated, electrified and fully grade separated high speed rail system between downtown Fresno (including a station at Mariposa Street) and downtown Merced (Including a station between MLK Way and G Street), and operation of high speed trains on that system. Specifically, the alignment known as the "Hybrid" was approved. This alignment generally follows the existing UPRR tracks leaving north from Fresno. North of the San Joaquin River, the alignment crosses northeast toward the existing BNSF tracks to the northeast of Madera. Approaching Merced, this alignment follows the existing UPRR tracks from approximately Buchanan Hollow Road all the way into the city of Merced. The approval at this time does not include portions of the Merced to Fresno HST section north of the city of Madera and south of Buchanan Hollow Road in Merced County. The approval at this time does not include approval of a heavy maintenance facility.
