- Document Description
- Note: Extended Per Lead Note: Review Per Lead The applicant is proposing to construct, operate, and maintain an electric-powered, steel-wheel-on-steel-rail-high speed train (HST) system. The Merced to Fresno Section of the California HST system would provide the public with electric-powered high-speed rail service that provides predictable and consistent travel times between major urban centers and connectivity to airports, mass transit, and the highway network in the northern San Joaquin Valley, and connect the northern and southern portions of the system. The approximately 65-mile long Merced to Fresno Section is an essential part of the statewide HST system, connecting San Francisco and the Bay Area to Los Angeles and Anaheim. It will provide Merced and Fresno access to a new transportation mode and will contribute to increased mobility throughout California. This section will connect the central San Joaquin Valley region to the remainder of the HST system via Merced County, Madera County, and the northern part of the City of Fresno.
