Document Description
NOTE: NOP, NOI-prepared separately; review per lead.
The project involves major modifications to the B.F. Sisk Dam (also known as the San Luis Dam) to improve public safety by addressing potential concerns related to the stability of the structure under extreme seismic loading conditions. The San Luis Reservoir serves as a storage facility for both the Central Valley Project and State Water Project. Potential dam modifications are being evaluated concurrently in a Corrective Action Study (CAS), being conducted by DWR and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Alternatives may involve a dam raise and construction of stability berms (earthen buttresses). Dam modification would require substantial volumes of earthen materials (between 2 million and 20 million cubic yards), which would be obtained from borrow sites on federal lands in the vicinity of the reservoir.
