Document Description
This project is being conducted per an injunction from the Superior Court of California Ventura County and the California Department of fish and Game. The main purposes of the project are to restore the existing bank protection from scour, mitigate future flood damages and restore the opportunity for habitat development. Activities will include the installation of a 48-inch A-jacks along the existing revetment and around the existing rock groins. Additionally, 24-inch A-jacks in 6' X 6' mats, will be placed 18 feet out into the river to supplement the existing rock groins. The A-jacks will be placed into areas of the San Clara River via heavy equipment from an access road along the river bank along with personnel on the ground to help guide the A-jacks into place. Additionally quarry rock will be placed into the existing revetment pipe and wire baskets (some rock is already present), as secondary protection in the event extremely high flows. In addition, prior to the start of the project, an earthern berm will be placed dry, upstream section of the project area to prevent future flows from entering the project area.
