Document Description
CDCR is mandated by the California Code of Regulations, Title 15, Section 3343(h) that special purpose segregated housing units be equipped with their own recreation yard, and each inmate housed in such units be provided 10 hours each week of out-of-cell exercise time. Based on a January 2007 statewide assessment of the housing capacity of Security Housing Units (SHU) and Psychiatric Services Units (PSU), it was determined that these requirements could not be met with the existing group recreation yards.
