Document Description
Preparation and DTSC approval of the Investigation Area B.1 Feasibility Study/Remedial Action Plan (FS/RAP) is pursuant to the requirements of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980, as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986; the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 300; and Chapter 6.8, Division 20, California Health & Safety Code. The FS/RAP proposes a remedial alternative for a portion of the former Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, California containing total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline, motor oil and diesel, vinyl chloride, trichloroethene, 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, arsenic lead, and benzo(a)pyrene. The remediation area is approximately 90-acres and is located in the north-central portion of the former Mare Island Naval Shipyard. IA B. is part of a larger parcel of land transferred from the United States Department of the Navy (navy) to Lennar Mare Island (LMI). LLC. Known as the Eastern Early Transfer Parcel (EETP). The FS/RAP is incorporated by reference.
