Document Description
The Santa Ana Valley Pipeline Repair Project consists of the excavation and repair by concrete encasement of three (3) 20-foot sections of the Santa Ana Valley Pipeline on the East Branch of the California Aqueduct due to measured overstress on the existing pipelines sections. Also, eight (8) zinc-anode cathodic protection (CP) systems will be installed along a 0.7 mile portion of the pipeline by drilling 12-inch diameter holes using a rotary drill rig adjacent to the pipeline and the excavation of a small trench to the existing CP station. All excavations and holes will be backfilled with compaction, and all project areas will be restored to their pre-project condition. The purpose of the project is to improve the long-term structural integrity of the Santa Ana Pipeline. This project will have no significant adverse environmental impacts. Beneficiaries include users in the vicinity of the repair sites and the State Water Project users in Riverside County.
