Document Description
Project objective is fire hazard abatement. Two separate areas, Millwoods and CCWD, will be treated under this sponsored by Ebbetts Pass Fire Protection District. While they are separate parcels, these 2 projects are actually connected as part of a strategic fuelbreak in the area. CDC crews will cut, pile and burn hazardous brush and small trees <9" DBH. The CCWD area, approximately 50 acres in size, was originally treated 6 years ago under a VMP project. Work performed under this project will consist of re-treating the same areas in order to maintain defensible conditions. The Millwoods project, approximately 26 acres in size, has had sporadic vegetation treatment for several years and this project will complete the treatment within these 2 parcels. In most cases, cutting and pilling will occur at the same time and burning will occur on subsequent burn days after vegetation has had time to dry.

Reasons for Exemption
Project does not involve the removal of healthy, mature, or scenic trees. A confidential archaeological report contains protection measures for all cultural sites. These sites will be protected by avoidance. Review of DFG's CNDBB database did not reveal the presence of any listed species of plants or animals that could be adversely impacted by this project. Noise will be minimized since work will occur during normal business hours. All burning will be conducted in accordance with a burn permit issued by the Calaveras Count APCD. According to the CCWD facility manager, the project will not cause any adverse impacts on the water treatment infrastructure located in the project area.
