Document Description
The Mare Island Drydocks Incidental Take Permit (ITP) previously issued by the DFG under the CESA involves the establishment and operation of a ship repair/dismantling facility through the rehabilitation of existing Drydocks 2 and 3, including dredging necessary to allow for related ship passage. DFG issued the existing CESA ITP in order to address and authorize, as fully mitigated, related impacts to delta smelt (Hypomesus transpacificus), longfin smelt (Spirinchus thaleichthys), winter-run Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), and spring-run Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), species designated as endangered or threatened under CESA. Minor Amendment No. 1, as approved, modifies the previously issued CESA ITP, increasing the amount of time each day and during the calendar year that Project dredgin operations are authorized. In approving Minor Amendment No. 1, DFG determined, among other things, that no substantial increase in the nature or scope of the previous authorization provided by the CESA ITP, and that no new significant or substantially more severe environmental impacts than previous considered and disclosed would occur.
