Document Description
This proposed project involves the establishment and operation of a ship repair/dismantling facility by rehabilitating dry-docks 2 and 3 for use and conducting necessary dredging to allow ship passage. The Project will result in impacts to delta smelt (Hypomesus transpacificus), longfin smelt (Spirinchus thaleichthys), wither-run Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchu tshawytscha), and spring-run Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) and is expected to result in incidental take of these species through stranding and entrainment during dry-dock filling and dewatering activities. Longfin smelt and spring-run Chinook salmon are designated as threatened, and delta smelt and winter-run Chinook salmon are listed as endangered species under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA). The ITP referenced above as issued by DFG authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
