Document Description
Monterey Peninsula Airport District is proposing safety-related improvements at both ends of Runway 10R-28 at Monterey Peninsula Airport in compliance with FAA safety regulations. Improvements include the construction of retaining walls to create level surfaces to accommodate the RSA, in conjunction with engineered materials arresting system (EMAS) beds. The relocation of existing vehicle service roads on the east and west ends of the runway is also included in the project. The east vehicle service road would connect directly with SR-68 due to terrain in the project area and would provide access to Tarpy's Restaurant as a condition of a Caltrans Encroachment Permit. The proposed project has not changed since the previous EIR; rather, this EIR revises portions of the previous EIR found to be inadequate by the Monterey County Superior Court.
