Document Description
Monterey Peninsula Airport District is proposing safety-related improvements to Monterey Peninsula Airport that will ensure, to the fullest extent practicable, the airport complies with FAA RSA design standards. The RSA improvements will take into account the various development constraints located beyond the existing runway ends and will provide additional RSA while maintaining, to the fullest feasible extent, existing runway takeoff and departure lengths. Development constraints beyond the existing runway ends include steep slopes off each runway end as well as numerous federal and state protected plant and animal species. Property acquisition in the vicinity of the airport is not feasible due to high acquisition costs.
