Document Description
The CA DFG is executing a Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the Project applicant, ConocoPhillips, for the Nipomo Creek Corrective Action Project. The applicant proposes to excavate petroleum impacted soil and restore the creek channel, bed, and banks. The creek bottom will be excavated to a depth of 5 feet over a distance of ~332 feet along the channel. Approximately 1,400 cubic yards of soil will be removed from the creek banks to create a 2:1 slope. The bottom of the excavation will be lined with a 60-mil impermeable geomembrane liner and backfilled with cement slurry and an ~6 inch thick sand base (over the slurry) upon which 22,000 sf of ArmorFlex will be installed. The ArmorFlex lining the bottom of the creek channel will be covered with ~2 to 3 feet (500 cubic yards) of natural fluvial channel deposits removed from the creek bottom during excavation. Cuttoff walls will be installed at each of the upstream and downstream ends to prevent undermining or the transport of foundation materials from beneath.
