Document Description
The City of Rancho Cordova wishes to eliminate a small segment of "zipper" street along Sunrise Boulevard north of White Rock Road. A "zipper" street is considered a small segment of roadway where frontage lane and frontage improvements such as curb, gutter and sidewalk, have not been completed, resulting in a short portion of roadway that necks-down from three to two travel lanes and back again. These short neck-down segments result in traffic merging hazards, increased traffic congestion, and pedestrian travel limitations due to lack of continuous bicycle lanes and sidewalks. The City proposes to eliminate this condition by installation of a frontage lane to provide a continuous through lane and through installation of a asphalt-concrete sidewalk to provide continuous sidewalk connectivity.
